Causes and solutions of protective film indentation

I. formation of indentation:
Most of the indentations are caused by the material being squeezed by the blade during the cutting process, and the closer the two knives are, the deeper the cutting depth is. (e.g. "figure 1")

Here's an example of the Iphone5S's front cover. The red part in figure 2 is the hard-hit area of indentation. How can we solve this problem?
First: start with the knife.
As shown in figure 1, indentation is caused by the edge of the knife, but no edge can make a knife. Indentation is hard to avoid. Since the indentation is difficult to remove, try to make the blade squeeze towards the scrap.

As shown in figure 3, the shadow part is the scrap area, and we designed the blade Angle on the side of the shadow scrap, so that the indentation was generated on the scrap and the other side was flat. The waste is then sucked out of the mold or removed with waste tape.

As shown in fig.4 and fig.5, you can use a single-blade knife, with the blade facing the waste material, so that the indentation can be pressed towards the waste material.
To ensure that in case, also need to pad the knife foam cotton up and down.
As shown in figure 6, the waste part of the cushion knife foam is removed or thinned to make room for the indentation.

As shown in figure 7, the foam on the product position can effectively flatten the material and prevent the material from creasing. The selection of cushion knife foam will directly affect the effect of indentation.

Thickness selection: generally, it is recommended that the blade should be 0.5-1.0mm higher than the blade.
Hardness selection: generally recommended 40 degrees, resilience 70% of the foam is appropriate.
3. Notes for mold adjustment:
As mentioned above, the depth of punching and cutting directly leads to the deepening of indentation effect, so as far as possible in the production process to ensure the sharp knife.
Now a lot of apprentices for convenience, always like to press a full knife on the bottom plate before starting to adjust the mold, little imagine that this pressure will lose the mold directly more than 20 percent of the life.
Personal experience in mold making is as follows:
When the mold is adjusted, three layers of parting paper are placed under the mold, and then slowly descending.
We observe that the first layer of paper will stop after it is cut off, and we will scratch wherever it is broken first. After scraping and then falling, such as stop circulation. Cut all knife marks on the first layer of paper.
As you press the button, try not to cut off the third layer of paper. You can put a carbon copy under the third layer of paper, so that the corresponding position of the knife will be printed on the bottom.
The first layer can be completely cut off, then the main material can be used for mold adjustment.
The above method is my personal preference. For products with high blade requirements, the contact between blade and bottom plate can be effectively reduced and the loss of blade can be reduced.
Four. Conclusion:
According to the above description, indentation is mainly related to the blade, so it can be improved by controlling the direction of the blade. Meanwhile, the improved effect can be improved by adjusting the cushion blade foam.
In the case that none of the above methods can be effectively solved, the Angle of the small blade can be changed to improve the indentation according to the actual situation.
The specific Angle will vary according to the hardness and thickness of the material. If more than two models are carefully observed and analyzed, the problem will always be solved.
